nanaco chan
...and the reason you don't see me in reading glasses.
packed up the sons, dogs, wife and japanese sister nanaco into the peroumobile (proper) and drove south to the heartland for a day at mum-mum and dad-dad's house.
i've known nanaco since 1996.
when i was working at dazed and confused on the picture desk, we were going to do a shoot with this japanese singer who had released a song called 'love is the drug'.
but i heard that she was also a photographer so i thought it would be interesting if she did a self-portrait for the magazine article.
during the night before i went to meet nanaco at her hotel to collect the picture, she had a dream in which she saw a foot with eyes on each of the toes.
she drew her dream in her notepad in the morning.
and when i met her and stuck out my hand to shake hers, she looked shocked and said, 'amaaaaaazing'.
in those days i always wore an eye ring on each of my fingers.
she showed me her drawing
we have been best friends ever since and have visited each other in japan in england often.
but she hasn't been in england for 10years and this is the first time she has seen either of my sons.

nanaco is a great photographer, singer and now bread maker (and friend): my older sister from japan.

apparently dad-dad complained that mum-mum's decoration of the christmas cake wasn't christmassy enough

RTF through heavy winds and rain
everyone (except me) watching E.T on the in-flight entertainment.
we got home 10 minutes before the end of the film so left everyone watching in the truck.
they all came in teary-eyed.
youtube introduced nanaco to die antwoord, bon iver, fever ray, lana del ray, sia and some dubstep.
late to bed, again.
