HNY2015
z started this year with a nose bleed blood bath basin.
i started the year with a call from the alarm company at the bunker telling me we were being burgled and armed police would be there shortly

it was a false alarm, thankfully
i started 2015 properly here.
the slopes were (not) surprisingly empty when they opened the lifts this morning.
took a while to get the right BPM for skiing sorted, on my in-helmet sound system
started with a spectacular wipeout going too fast for my skills to keep me upright.

a lot of 2D pictures of mountains flatten the sense of perspective.
this view from the up and over chair lift gives you a pretty good idea of how steep it is.
sons called this the most social lift in val d'isere
when they weren't whooping like they were on a theme park ride, they were shouting 'howdy' to people passing in the opposite direction, in perfectly flawed american accents

z playing wipeout
help up or help myself to a photograph?
it's an easy choice
'hold on son: i'm just getting my camera'

maximum and z having a tea break
both sons are now ridiculously good skiers
maximum has NO fear, unfortunately, and will preference off piste to piste at all times: seeking out jumps and short cuts
z has elastic legs and makes skiing the hardest slopes look effortlessly easy.
i crash daily and am subsequently munching through a week's supply of anti-inflammatory and opiates.

today mrs.perou ended her run, sliding upside down and head first, for half a slope, after binning on ice...but is generally doing really well.
(she was more worried about her new coat getting damaged than her body, of course)
still no (more) snow today
and temperatures rising to + numbers.
just 2 full days of skiing left
